Realizing Your Psychic Abilities

We all have psychic abilities. As most of us have been conditioned to depend primarily on the senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, we’ve collectively forgotten to honor all our senses – in fact, we forget that we don’t even know the extent and capabilities of our human senses. Psychic abilities are realized for anyone willing, or forced, to remove the mental blocks to their metaphysical senses. Intuition has nothing to do with what you think you know about someone or something. It has nothing to do with the outer world – it’s all about knowing your inner experience. Realizing your psychic abilities requires a conscious choice to first clearly see yourself.

Clearing The Blocks To Clear Sight

People often tell me my psychic abilities are a magical, mystical gift – as if they were bestowed upon me without effort.  Though natural abilities have always been at play – this assumption is far from true.

Accurately interpreting what lives beneath the surface in meaningful ways has required a relentless, rigorous, sometimes painful and confusing, sometimes freeing and blissful, ongoing Self-inquiry. Facing ourselves is the most challenging coursework for us humans. Knowing thyself is the prerequisite to responsibly intuiting this world with clarity. The privilege of serving others metaphysically has been earned through consistent dedication and complex and challenging Self-work.

The real work of clearing the blocks to clear Sight involves:

  • an intense dedication to nourishing a constant awareness of your thoughts,
  • a willingness to hold yourself accountable for all thoughts you entertain,
  • a constant mindfulness of how what you’re allowing into your physical, mental, and emotional space is impacting your feelings and perspectives,
  • ongoing examination of what’s at the root of your feelings,
  • releasing ideas of controlling anything other than your choices, decisions, and actions,
  • and accepting all circumstances, and all that lives, precisely as Is.

Though our lives each have a distinct flavor, our individual experiences are not isolated. We’re connected by ideas, preferences, feelings, and shared experiences.   As we step out of our own way, we instinctively know one another energetically (by feeling). Only our opinions, fears, and assumptions block our view.

Realizing Psychic Abilities Isn’t A Pass From The Human Experience

I’m just as susceptible to human drama as anyone else.  When attached to the outcome of a situation, my mind initially wants to unsee, avoid, and deny what may bring pain. This is human nature.

A dedication to being consciously aware of my feeling space encourages a keen awareness of my mind’s natural defenses as they occur. Those of you actively engaged in self-inquiry work are familiar with the frustration of consciously knowing you’re blocking clear sight but being overcome by the brain’s ability to distract anyway.

Yes, even psychic mediums feel this human experience.  Like everyone, we feel sorrow, bliss, sadness, anger, and happiness.  We grieve, make mistakes, and entertain false beliefs like everyone. There are situations we don’t want to face – just like everyone.   Sometimes our fears overrule our thoughts, and we don’t see what we don’t want to see – just like everyone.

We each can experience life without becoming the feelings it evokes or succumbing to the natural mechanisms of the human brain that attempt to protect us from less-than-desirable feeling experiences. As we do, our innate connection to everything becomes clear.  Our commonality of experience allows us to embrace other people’s experiences – seen when we don’t pile our personal history of beliefs, opinions, assumptions, and emotions onto our interactions. We realize a comprehensive knowing without the constraints of analytical knowing – like the other animals in our Great kingdom who depend solely on instincts for survival. Humans are the only animals that question and doubt what they Know.

Psychic abilities aren’t magical – they reflect what we are!  With awareness of our Self (Soul), we can tap into and fully trust our intuition. We don’t become a psychic; we have the choice of realizing (remembering) we are psychic beings as we dedicate ourselves to releasing limiting beliefs.

Serving As A Professional Psychic

Realizing psychic abilities don’t qualify one to teach or guide others with intuited wisdom.

  •  If I’m unclear about my limiting beliefs, I will interpret metaphysical information through my personal lens – which would have little value to anyone.
  • If I believe what I intuit is the Absolute, my psychic vision will be blocked.
  • If I analyze your feelings, they become my feelings about developing a correct analysis.

Self-inquiry and an acceptance of Self must be embraced before we can response-ably serve others with intuited guidance. Energetic classrooms, lecture halls, and libraries are always active with those studying the nature of their Self. There are no days off, for wherever you go, there you are. Constant dedication to Self-study is required to serve others as a spiritual guide.

Gratitude, forgiveness, joy, peace, and connection to others are not states we make happen but natural states that occur with true Self-awareness and an openness to all aspects of Life. Interpreting psychic energy naturally occurs when we’re self-aware.

My (self-assigned) role as a psychic medium is an extension of a sacred spiritual practice I never sought to bring about – it simply came to Be for me. It’s liberating and fulfilling – and absolutely the most accessible, free-flowing, and meaningful activity I know of because I don’t bring my personal experience into it. I surrender to the entirety of Experience, including my Self and all others.

Before and during any reading, I consciously drop my identity – all preferences, beliefs, fears, and judgments lose power. My thinking mind rests and falls into service to my Soul’s connection to Spirit. This frees me to genuinely connect to others regardless of who they are or where they are physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I’ve read in a spirit of acceptance and love for people my thinking mind may never want to know, as my Soul knows them in their perfection and glory.

After a session, I ground myself back into the real and raw human experience I’m here to live.

To truly honor another’s experience in Service, we must detach from our feelings about them. Detach doesn’t mean not caring but instead serving without attaching beliefs we know better, know more, or have the solutions for anyone else. Our job is to help others remember that they know all they need to know by pointing towards the unified wisdom we each instinctively know as True.

As a life coach, I encourage those I work with to follow through on and further explore their strengths, wisdom, and abilities I see as a psychic.

Healthy Boundaries: Readings Require Mutual Invitation

Everyone is important to themselves, so there’s often a natural inclination to believe the psychically aware are constantly tapping into their business (psychic peeping). Contrary to popular belief, many practicing psychics want to intuit other people’s worlds all the time, not even most of the time.

If you stop for a moment and consider the infinite array of feelings, thoughts, and physical information we’re each experiencing at any given moment; you can imagine how exhausting it would be to randomly psychically attune to other people!

This is why I don’t do ‘readings’ in social situations or on the fly.  We may be enjoying a meal, watching a movie, engaging in light camaraderie, collaborating, stargazing, sharing laughs, dancing – situations that would lose their flavor if I tapped into the depths of your emotion, fears, life patterns, and how you’re feeling about all the people, places, situations, and things alive in your consciousness.

These three factors must be present to call me into Service:

  1. A well-intentioned question (would you be able to help me?)
  2. Permission (I invite you into my Soul-space), and
  3. A mutually agreed time dedicated to spiritual exploration (a scheduled appointment).

Otherwise, I’m a human being responding to and learning you based on what you choose to present and what I (as a human) feel like exploring with you – just like everyone else.

I hope these words have helped clarify some of the myths about psychic abilities and the ease at which we can all tap into all our senses when aware of the conditioned aspects of our minds. If you’re experiencing metaphysical phenomenon and aren’t sure how to manage it or are just curious and want to explore your human sensory potentials more deeply, contact me- I’d love to hear from you!
